Anyone used electronic cigarettes before on public transportation?

I am very curious about these. In particular, are you allowed to use them on a train or airplane? I mean, if the train conductor saw me using an electronic cigarette, would they give me a high-five or kick me off the train?

Sadly, from my experience people don’t seem to realise these and real cigarettes are different.

Me and some friends have been trying out places, every place we go to inside within about 30 seconds someone is coming over telling me to put it out.

The annoying thing is, the people that even do know they exist still think the smoking ban applies to them too!

I’d say the chances of you getting kicked of a train or plane would be very good. I seriously doubt that anyone, even if they agreed with you, would give you a high-five.
Part of the problem is that the manufactures have made the electronic cigarettes look too much like the real thing. They even have a red LED to make the end glow like a lit cigarette. They also produce a “smoke”. At least some of them have changed the LED to blue but that doesn’t seem to be enough. This makes people think the cigarette is real and many people are, let’s say energetic, about stopping smoking where it’s not allowed.
The other problem is that I don’t believe there has been any distinction made between real and electronic cigarettes made as far as laws go. Maybe there has but I haven’t heard of it. Real or electronic, smoking can be considered smoking.
Even if there is a distinction, many people wouldn’t understand or know of this and you’d be educating scores of people every day.
