Hello i was wondering with the e-cig can i smoke the nicotine Free ones i am 5 and a half months Pregnant.
I tried my friends one today and she had the nicotine Free ones and it felt wonderful. I have been smoking for 4 years and all throuout my first pregnancy but i was hoping that this will make it healthier and easier on me and my baby.

hello i had 2 children and smoked and they where both healthy baby’s and also i have done alot of research and there is no mental retardation or anything like that stated in any of there studys. I dont know what the hell gamauchie thinks they are trying to scare becouse the only side affect is this weirdo>>>>low-birthweight baby> preterm delivery and Placenta previa

I have been Pregnant twice, both my children are very athletic and intelligent, they have no physical or mental problems. I was even told by my current doctor not to quit smoking because it puts to much stress on the baby, she is the one that reccommended the ecig because though nicotine is still unhealthy, there is less of it in an ecig than in the entire pack I usually smolke per day. It is not Safe but neither is being that stressed out, plus the majority of the chemicals that are in an actual cigarette are not in the ecig. We all have to choose our vices, I am six moths Pregnant, my baby is very healthy and bigger than she is supposed to be, so far there is nothing but more posotive effects from the ecig than anything else.

Hello dear. I would like to jump in and tell you that I understand your need for Nicotine, and the withdrawal symptoms you may face because you are not getting your Nicotine fix. Although Electronic Cigarettes don’t contain all of the harmful chemicals traditional cigarettes contain, they still contain Nicotine, and Nicotine is not something that is good for you. Nicotine is an addictive substance. Why would you even think about putting an addictive substance in your body while you are Pregnant? Electronic Cigarettes were meant to give smokers a healthier alternative to smoking. It is not meant for Pregnant or nursing women.
Nicotine and drugs can affect a fetus by entering into the bloodstream of the unborn child. While you are Pregnant, almost everything you eat, drink or smoke passes through your body to your baby. That is why drugs taken during pregnancy can be harmful to your baby. The word “drugs” doesn’t only mean illegal drugs. It also means legal drugs and prescription and over-the-counter medicines. The use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs during pregnancy continues to be a leading preventable cause of mental, physical, and psychological impairments and problems in infants and children. A developing fetus really is a part of its mother, sharing oxygen and nutrients through the umbilical cord and across the fluid-filled bubble known as the placenta. It was once thought the placenta as a natural filter, shielding the fetus from external harm. Today, we know that virtually everything in a woman’s bloodstream passes through to the developing organs of the fetus. Since a fetus can’t remove harmful substances on its own, all the drugs a woman uses during pregnancy stay in its body longer than they do in mom’s — and at higher, more toxic levels.

Cigarette is never good and healthy for your baby. And how do you know that you’re 2 weeks Pregnant? Usually people don’t know that they’re Pregnant until they’re at least 4 weeks.

Effects of nicotine
Nicotine causes spasm of the arteries, including those that send blood to the placenta. This diminishes the baby’s oxygen and nutrient supplies, which can result in smaller (or underweight) Babies.
You need to quit altogether. Nicotine is very bad for your baby, think of it as a drug.
Talk to your doctor as soon as possible as to which way would be best for you to quit, as cold turkey isn’t always the best option depending on your degree of addiction.

Obviously, not smoking anything is the best option. However, sometimes it just isn’t an option. So you have to decide… do you think it is the nicotine you are addicted to, the other ingredients (and yes… arsenic, carbon monoxide and some of the other by-products in tobacco cigarettes are highly addictive), or is it the action itself.
What most people don’t realize is that the electronic cigarette comes in a variety of strengths, including a zero nicotine. So basically, you can continue with the action, but not get the nicotine.
The ingredients of an electronic cigarette vary, but in most cases, they have flavoring, Propylene Glycol and either nicotine and no nicotine.
Since you are probably visiting your doctor regularly, Here are some things to take with you to help your physician decide if the electronic cigarette is right for you…
Let’s talk about Propylene Glycol. Propylene Glycol is found in thousands of products. Go into your bathroom and have a look. Go into your medicine cabinet and have a look. I am putting a link to a 2006 report from the EPA regarding Propylene Glycol. They do discuss Propylene Glycol by inhalation on the unborn fetus. One study shows that you are actually getting 1/3 of the nicotine as you would in Comparison to a tobacco cigarette. http://www.e-cig.org/pdfs/2008-NZ-Report… Another thing to note is that if you want to stay away from nicotine completely, you should eliminate tomatoes, eggplant, and other products that come from the nightshade family of plants as they all contain nicotine (very small amounts… but still there).
Let’s talk about carcinogens. Currently, the only product that contains nicotine that does not contain carcinogens is the Commit Lozenge. The gum, the patch, the nicotine inhaler, the nasal sprays all have carcinogens. The electronic cigarette liquid was tested and it was found that there were carcinogens present. However, the liquid is inhaled, not consumed orally. vapor testing to date shows no carcinogens in the vapor and there should be some more reports coming out Here shortly. However, the NZ-Report I listed above has some good information on that. Did you also know that carcinogens are found in meat and as you cook them… the carcinogens get more powerful?
No matter what you decide, do not feel guilty. Remember, it is the DOSE that is the devil, not what you are actually doing. I have been Pregnant twice and been a pack a day smoker for 16 years. Both times, my doctor (different doctors) told me that greatly reducing my consumption was the best route if I couldn’t quit. Stress and anxiety are far more harmful on the baby than anyone can possibly imagine.
I use and love my Electronic Cigarette. Feel Free to ask any questions. But no matter what you do… you need to discuss it with your doctor… even if you go cold turkey because Doc needs to know to keep an eye on your anxiety levels.
