Remember Pavlov? Every time that he fed his dogs he rang a bell. After several repetitions, he could just ring the bell, and that would make the dogs salivate.
When you associate Chewing Tobacco with any other behavior, the other behavior will trigger cravings for tobacco and a urge to chew. This is called a conditioned response.
For example: If you chew while you watch a movie, you will automatically get an urge to chew each time you go to the movies.
Here is exactly how this conditioned response gets programmed into your unconscious: If a person chews smokeless and simultaneously drives a car, the mind takes a snapshot of the tobacco in the hand, and ties it to the image of the steering wheel, dashboard, or view out the windshield, etc.. Thereafter, every time the person drives the car, his unconscious mind fills in the missing part of the picture. It flashes an image of the chew in the hand coming towards the mouth, and the dipper gets a craving for smokeless tobacco.
You may not be consciously aware of the mental picture of the smokeless tobacco, because it may only be at the unconscious level of mind. Just as you are not consciously aware of what you are seeing through your peripheral vision until something or someone draws your attention to it. But the image is there, creating a craving for a dip.
Part C: THERE IS A PHYSICAL ADDICTION TO NICOTINE, BUT . . .
I have had the experience of working with several thousand people for tobacco cessation and I give you my personal guarantee that the physical addiction to smokeless tobacco is the weakest part of the habit. In fact, I believe that it is only ten percent of the addiction. Ninety percent of the dipping habit are the mental and emotional parts! (Parts A and B).
Here IS WHAT THIS MEANS TO A PERSON WHO CHEWS SMOKELESS TOBACCO AND WHO WANTS TO QUIT.
What this means is that if you can eliminate the feeling of tension that causes you to chew smokeless tobacco for relaxation and pleasure (Part A) . . . and if you can extinguish the conditioned response of feeling a craving for dip when watching TV, driving, or finishing a meal, etc. (Part B) . . . then you can stop dipping tobacco without requiring willpower, and without suffering from withdrawal symptoms or weight-gain.
Hypnosis will make it easy to give up tobacco because it takes care of Parts A & B! Here is how:
Part A is where dippers dip smokeless for relaxation and pleasure. It’s our thoughts that create tension. More to the point, people always run mental movies in their mind’s eye. If the movie is negative, it creates a feeling of tension.
We can use different NLP techniques to program the unconscious mind to easily take those anxiety producing mental pictures and movies, and automatically exchange them for relaxation producing mental pictures and movies. This produces relaxation and pleasure, and obliterates the anxiety that creates the oral urges for chewing.
Because of the elimination of tension, the person who is quitting doesn’t feel the compulsion or need to substitute food in place of the chew. So quitting without weight gain is possible.

Part B is where people dip smokeless tobacco because Chewing Tobacco becomes a conditioned response to many different activities and locations. Remember in the earlier example how smoking became unconsciously associated with other activities and environments so that each time a person who chews gets into that activity or environment, the mind flashes an image of smokeless tobacco in your hand, and the image of the smokeless tobacco in your hand triggers cravings for smokeless?
There are powerful and effective NLP and hypnosis technologies that can quickly extinguish those conditioned responses so that a person’s unconscious will lose the cravings for chew, and the compulsion to chew smokeless tobacco. As a matter of fact, you can even get a compulsion to reject chewing.

6. Set a quit date Having firm goals is important when dealing with addictions and when looking for ways to quit smoking cigarettes this is a vital step. When Did We Know About The Effects Of Cigarette Smoking

It seems a day doesn’t go by that we don’t hear or see something about cigarette smoking and the tobacco companies being blamed for the destructive effects of cigarette smoking on our health, is it a bad rap put on the tobacco companies, or a way for the states to collect more taxes. If you haven’t heard the states our increasing the tax on cigarettes, on January 1st Texas increased the tax by a $1.00 a pack to $1.41, New Jersey levies a nation-high $2.58 state tax per pack.
Bangor Maine bans smoking in cars carrying children which went in to effect on Jan.19, it allows the police to stop cars if an adult is smoking while a child under 18 is a passenger. The smoker can be fined $50. Most large companies now have smoke Free workplace policies.
So when did we become aware that cigarette smoking was bad for us? It would seem to be on January 11, 1964, when Surgeon General Luther Terry issued a landmark concluding, for the first time, that smoking is a direct cause of lung Cancer, heart disease, and emphysema. In 1964, 50-percent of adult males and 46-percent of all Americans smoked cigarettes.
Then on May 27, 2004 the U.S. Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona released a new comprehensive report on smoking and health, revealing for the first time that smoking causes Diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Published 40 years after the surgeon general’s first report on smoking, which concluded that smoking was a definite cause of three serious Diseases, this newest report finds that cigarette smoking is conclusively linked to Diseases such as leukemia, cataracts, Pneumonia and cancers of the cervix,kidney, pancreas and stomach.
“We’ve known for decades that smoking is bad for your health, but this report shows that it’s even worse than we knew,” Dr. Carmona said. “The toxins from cigarette smoke go everywhere the blood flows. I’m hoping this new information will help motivate people to quit smoking and convince young people not to start in the first place.”
Statistics indicate that more than 12 million Americans have died from smoking since the 1964 report of the surgeon general, and another 25 million Americans alive today will most likely die of a smoking related illness. It would seem that the tobacco companies have killed more of us than all the wars in history.
So it looks like we have know that cigarette smoking is bad for are health a little over 40 years right, well in my research I found the following information dated 1892 Titled The Destructive Effects of Cigarette Smoking.
Cigarettes have been analyzed, and most physicians and chemists were surprised to find how much opium is put into them. A tobacconist himself says that the extent to which drugs are used in cigarettes is appalling. Havana flavoring for this same purpose is sold everywhere by the thousand barrels. This flavoring is made from the tonkabean, which contains a deadly poison. The wrappers, warranted to be rice paper, are sometimes made of common paper, and sometimes of the filthy scrapings of rag pickers bleached white with arsenic. What a thing for human lungs.
The habit burns up good health, good resolutions, good manners, good memories, good faculties, and often honesty and truthfulness as well.
Cases of epilepsy, insanity and death are frequently reported as the result of smoking cigarettes, while such physicians as Dr. Lewis Sayre, Dr. Hammond, and Sir Morell Mackenzie of England, name heart trouble, blindness, Cancer and other Diseases as occasioned by it.
Leading physicians of America unanimously condemn cigarette smoking as one of the vilest and most destructive evils that ever befell the youth of any country, declaring that its direct tendency is a deterioration of the race.
Look at the pale, wilted complexion of a boy who indulges in excessive cigarette smoking. It takes no physician to diagnose his case, and death will surely mark for his own every boy and young man who will follow up the habit. It is no longer a matter of guess. It is a scientific fact which the microscope in every case verifies.
He also goes on to list the cost of smoking and I was surprised that one cigarette cost between 5 and 10 cents each, that’s one to two dollars a pack which was a lot of money then.
If the physicians new in 1892 the destructive effects of cigarette smoking why has it taken over 115 years to inform us that the tobacco companies have been poisoning us and we need to quit smoking, could it be the tobacco companies lobbing efforts, who knows, but now that we are aware and the tobacco companies no were aware, they won’t be up to any more tricks to keep us hooked, they even put links on their web sites to stop smoking sites to help us quit smoking.

Scientists are reporting the first successful strategy to reduce smokersâ?? nicotine dependence while allowing them to continue smoking. The study provides strong support for proposals now being considered in Congress to authorize FDA regulation of cigarette smoking, according to the research team.The key to the clinical trialâ??s success was providing smokers with cigarettes of gradually decreasing nicotine content over a number of weeks. If such cigarettes were federally mandated, smokers would find it easier to quit, and more young smokers could avoid addiction, according to the scientists. Tobacco company products marketed as low-nicotine alternatives, in fact, do not change the level of nicotine taken in by smokers, they added.The research was carried out by scientists at UCSF and San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center and is reported in the November 14 issue of the journal â??Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention.â?Legislation giving the FDA authority to regulate tobacco products is currently being considered in Congress. Such regulatory authority would empower the agency to develop and enforce standards to make cigarettes less harmful — including the reduction of the nicotine yields so that cigarettes would be less addictive, said Neal Benowitz, MD, leader of the study team and an expert on the pharmacology and health effects of nicotine and other smoking products.Smoking and health experts have been concerned that reducing the nicotine content of cigarettes would lead to smoking a greater number of cigarettes and therefore increased exposure to other tobacco smoke toxins, as is seen in smokers of the currently marketed low-nicotine yield cigarettes, Benowitz said. The new research on reduced-nicotine content cigarettes strongly counters that prediction.In the study, 20 healthy adult smokers smoked their usual brand for a week and then followed a six-week regimen of smoking cigarettes with progressively decreased nicotine content.At the end of this period, they were Free to return to their usual commercial cigarette brand, and most of them did. When tested one month later, they were smoking about 40 percent fewer cigarettes per day, with a comparable reduction in nicotine intake, compared to when the study began.
